There are many factors that go into choosing your new Chevrolet Silverado or Silverado HD. The engine is one of the most important factors. With 8 engines to choose from, let’s go over the highlights to pick which engine is best for you.
The 8 available engines are:

The highest towing capacity on the Silverado is with the 6.2L V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management engine that has a maximum of 13,300 lbs.. When going to the Silverado HD, the maximum towing capacity is 36,000 lbs. with the Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 in the Silverado 3500HD.
On the Silverado Work Truck (WT), Custom and Custom Trail Boss the standard engine is the 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 with Active Fuel Management with a 6-speed transmission. This engine will produce up to 285 HP and a maximum towing capacity of 7,900 lbs..
The Silverado LT and RST come standard with the 2.7L Turbo with Active Fuel Management engine. This engine produces 310 HP and provides up to 9,300lbs. of towing capacity. The LT and RST also have an available 5.3L V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management engine. This engine will produce 355 HP and provide up to 11,500 lbs. of towing capabilities.
