When it’s a beautiful day in Circleville, OH, we love nothing more than spending time in one of the city’s many great parks. Check out our three favorite community green spaces within just a few minutes drive.

1. Circleville Canal Park

This 16-acre park is situated on the banks of the Scioto River and has miles of hiking and biking trails to explore. You’ll also find picnic tables, interpretative signage about the nature and history of the site, a fire pit, and restroom facilities. If you’d like to boat on the river, you can use the access point at Circleville Canal Park. Whatever your plans, you’ll be able to enjoy beautiful river views and even spot some native bird species.

For a longer exploration, you can access the paved Pickaway Trail, which extends all the way to New Holland along the former Penn Central rail bed. Community members can also reserve the park’s covered picnic pavilion for private events. Circleville Canal Park is located at 23352 Canalville Road in Circleville. It’s open every day from dawn to dusk.

2. Logan Elm State Memorial Park

Established in memory of Chief Logan of the local Cayuga tribe, this historic park has been part of Circleville since 1912. The chief spoke on relations between Ohio settlers and American Indians under a large elm tree right on this spot in 1777. Although the tree no longer exists, you can still explore the monuments and plaques in the park to learn more about this era in Ohio history.

Logan Elm State Memorial Park features open fields, picnic tables, and a covered picnic shelter. It’s located at 9 Ohio Route 361 in Circleville, and you can visit during daylight hours 365 days a year.

3. Mary Virginia Crites Hannan Park

We love the “natural park” experience offered at this 72-acre green space. It’s a great place to relax, with lots of amenities like a fire pit, bird-watching station, butterfly garden, and playground. During the summer, kids can cool off at the splash pad. You can also bring your pup to the park’s dog park, which has divided sections for smaller and larger dogs. You’ll also find a walking trail, restrooms, outdoor fitness equipment, and lots of free parking.

Mary Virginia Crites Hannan Park is located at 1230 Pontius Road in Circleville. It’s open every day during daylight hours and closes at sunset.

The Chevy Traverse is an awesome vehicle for local exploration, especially if you want to bring your bike, boat, or picnic supplies to a park in the area. Stop by Coughlin GM of Circleville today to take your test drive of this highly-rated SUV.
