Do you want to spend a relaxing afternoon out in the fresh air and quiet of nature? The peaceful town of Circleville, OH, is blessed with a scenic river full of fish and a few very pleasant local parks, ponds, and lakes that are ideal for angling. Here are a few great local fishing spots to choose from.

A person fishing.

Elmon Richards Scioto River Fishing Access

The closest fishing spot is just across the Scotio River on the west of town. Elmon Richards Scioto River Fishing Access is an attractive little riverside park and garden with easy access to the water and lots of choices for seating with your fishing chair. There’s dense woodland on either side of the river, providing plenty of leafy shade and pretty natural scenery. This great little patch of parkland is also dog-friendly.

The river has a variety of catfish species, plus crappies and bass to catch. There’s a boat launch if you’d like to row out onto the waters and cast your line in the center of the slow-flowing river. You can walk here from the town center with relative ease or drive here in just a few minutes; the newly paved access road and large parking area make it easy to access either way. You can find it at J22R+9W

A.W. Marion State Park

For more of an escape into the wilderness, visit this beautiful state park to the northeast of town. A.W. Marion State Park offers five miles of well-marked hiking trails around a large and lovely lake. As you stroll, you’ll come across many nice, quiet spots for fishing. There are also convenient boat ramps; take your fishing boat out onto the water to seek bigger fish far from the shore or settle in blissful seclusion on one of the islands.

The campground on the eastern shore provides an ideal way to stay out in nature for a few days of serious fishing. And if you want to explore this very family-friendly park, there’s a lot to see and do, including kayak rentals and many picnic spots equipped with tables, grills, and restrooms. The park’s well-maintained playground, which includes a merry-go-round, is always popular with the kids. You can find the park at 7317 Warner-Huffer Road.

Canal Park

This historic local park offers several spots for fishing beside an attractive old canal and also the Scotio River. It’s another serene place to settle for a few hours surrounded by the sounds of rustling leaves, trickling water, and scurrying wildlife.

Pack your fishing equipment into the spacious cargo area of your brand-new 2023 Buick Enclave Premium and enjoy your SUV’s superb handling on the short drive to the park. You can find Canal Park to the west of town at 23352 Canal Road
